A Sew&Story Private Limited is the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described in this policy, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025.

What we collect

When you shop with us or get in touch, we collect:

• Your name, phone number and email address.
• Your delivery address (and billing details, where needed for your invoice).
• Order details, such as the products you bought, order value, order number and delivery status.
• Messages you send us by email, phone or WhatsApp, and any photos or videos you share with us (for example, for a return request).
• Reviews you choose to submit, along with the name you provide.
• Basic technical information, such as your device type, browser and IP address, which our servers record automatically to keep the website running securely.

Payment information

Payments are handled by Cashfree Payments, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. Your card details, UPI PIN and banking credentials go directly to Cashfree and your bank. We never see or store them. We receive only the information needed to confirm your payment, such as the payment status, amount and transaction reference.

Cookies and analytics

We use only the cookies or similar browser storage that are needed for our website to work, for example to keep items in your cart while you shop.

If we use analytics or marketing cookies, we will tell you and ask for your consent first. You will be able to change your choice at any time.

Why we use your data

We use your personal data to:

• Process, pack, ship and deliver your orders.
• Send you order confirmations and shipping and delivery updates.
• Handle returns, replacements, refunds, cancellations and customer support.
• Issue invoices and meet our obligations under tax and other laws.

Legal basis for using your data

Who we share it with

• Courier and logistics partners, so they can deliver your order (your name, phone number and delivery address).
• Cashfree Payments, to process your payment and any refunds.
• IT, hosting and email service providers who help us run our website and communicate with you.
• Government authorities, courts or law enforcement, when we are legally required to.

We never sell your data

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. Our service providers may use it only to provide their services to us, and not for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep order and invoice records for as long as tax law requires. Under GST law, this is typically about eight years.

Other personal data is deleted once it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for, or when you withdraw consent, unless we are required by law to keep it for longer. Where the law requires us to keep certain records or logs for a minimum period, we keep them for that period.

How we protect it

We use reasonable security safeguards to protect your personal data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access only for people who need it, and trusted service providers.

No system is completely secure. If a personal data breach occurs that affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

• Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
• Correct, complete or update your personal data.
• Ask us to erase your personal data, unless we need to keep it to meet a legal requirement.
• Withdraw your consent at any time.
• Have your grievances about your personal data addressed by us.
• Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.

How to exercise your rights or withdraw consent

You can withdraw consent as easily as you gave it. To stop marketing messages, use the unsubscribe option in the message or contact us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already done, and we may still need some data to complete an order that is in progress or to meet legal requirements.

Children

Our website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 18 without verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us, please contact us and we will delete it.
